What goals do you want to accomplish in your term?
For Precinct 2, my Democratic running mate Luella Ichihara Marciano and I would like to see priority infrastructure projects move forward, including the rehabilitation and enhancement of Sugar Dock, Susupe Beach Park, and the youth centers and social halls. We will also seek partnerships with agencies and community stakeholders to reestablish the village sanitation inspection program and to create a Chalan Kanoa and Susupe Heritage Trail.
For the CNMI, our top goals include expanding access to health care and strengthening our educational institutions. We will work with the CNMI Medicaid Agency to establish an affordable buy-in program for residents who do not currently have health insurance or quality for Medicaid. In appropriations we will prioritize investments in the Public School System, the Northern Marianas College, and the Northern Marianas Technical Institute.
NMTI needs champions now more than ever. Our only public vocational trade school is not being funded by the administration and educational programs and operations have been severely hampered as a result. Vocational and technical education programs are fundamental to the development of our local workforce and the rebuilding of our economy. We have to fund NMTI. The school’s success is the CNMI’s success.
Why should voters vote for you?
People know they can trust me to be open and honest with them, and to put the well-being of the community first before any personal or special interests. They know I work hard, and take my legislative responsibilities seriously. They know that I listen. They know that I care – about them, their families, our islands, our future.
